STUDY ADAB BEFORE STUDYING KNOWLEDGE
Know that Salaf scholars are very concerned about the issue of manners and morals. They also instructed his students to learn manners before embarking on a field of science and discovering various kinds of scholarly errors.
Imam Darul Hijrah, Imam Malik rahimahullah once said to a young man of Quraysh,
"Learn manners before learning a science."
Why until the scholars first learned manners? As Yusuf bin Al Husain said,
May God bless you all
"By learning manners, then you become easy to understand science."
The author's teacher, Shaykh Sholeh Al ‘Ushoimi said," By paying attention to manners, it will be easy to gain knowledge. A little attention to manners, then knowledge will be wasted. "
Therefore, the scholars are very attentive to study it.
Ibn Mubarok said,
Teach us the good things of the world, and teach the knowledge of the Egyptians.
"We studied the issue of manners for 30 years while we studied science for 20 years."
Ibn Sirin said,
How do you know the gods, how do you know the knowledge?
"They - the scholars - first learned the instructions (manners) as they mastered a science."
Makhlad bin Al Husain said to Ibn Mubarok,
"We need more in learning manners than mastering many hadiths." This is what happened in his time, of course in our time manners and morals should be studied more seriously.
In Siyar A'lamin Nubala 'by Adz Dzahabi it is mentioned that' Abdullah bin Wahab said,
What can we say about your love? How much do you know about our knowledge?
"What we quote from (Imam) Malik is more in terms of manners than his knowledge." -
Imam Malik also once said, "My mother used to tell me to sit in a meeting with Robi'ah Ibn Abi 'Abdirrahman -a fakih in the city of Madinah at the time-. My mother said,
"Learn manners from him before taking his knowledge."
Imam Abu Hanifah was more happy to study the stories of the scholars than to master the chapter on jurisprudence.
Because from there he learned a lot of manners, that is what we lack today. Imam Abu Hanifah said,
"I like the stories of the scholars and sitting with them more than mastering some chapters of fiqh. Because in their story they are taught various manners and noble morals. " (Al Madkhol, 1: 164)
Among the things we must pay attention to is in terms of conversation, which is oral care. Straighten our mouths to say good, polite and beneficial. ‘Umar bin‘ Abdul ‘Aziz said,
From the word of his word from his word,
"Whoever counts his words compared to his deeds, of course he will talk a little except in matters that are beneficial" Ibn Rajab said, "It is true what he said.
Most people do not count their words from their deeds ”(Jaami’ul‘ Ulum wal Hikam, 1: 291).
What we see in our midst, "Talk more, do less (a lot of talk, a little practice)".
